For 100 years, Planned Parenthood of New York City (PPNYC) has been helping thousands of individuals and families who rely on reproductive health care, educational programs and effective advocacy.
Their mission is to empower individuals to make independent, informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive lives. PPNYC provides information and health care, and promotes public policies that make their services available to all. Planning is power.
During the summer of 2016, we were contacted by PPNYC to create Custom Printed Foil Condoms to create awareness for the services they provide New Yorkers.
Starting in 1916, Margaret Sanger opened the nation’s first family planning clinic in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. Nine days after opening, Margaret was jailed for violating Comstock obscenity law. With that arrest, the clinic was shut down and a movement was born.
The Custom Printed Foil Condoms that we created for PPNYC continue Margaret’s push to dispense contraceptives to those that want to take family planing into their own hands. It actually wasn’t until 1958 that PPNYC was able to reverse New York’s policy against providing birth control to all patients.
In 1970, PPNYC led the fight to legalize abortion in New York State. Three years later, the nation followed with the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling in Roe v. Wade. With today’s political and religious war on a woman’s right to choose, condoms are of the utmost importance when it comes to engaging in healthy sexual relationship.
PPNYC ultimately went with two different Custom Printed Foil Condom designs. One design said, “Don’t eff with us. Don’t eff without us,” while the other had their logo with condoms in the background. The background of the condom was a bright print to match their brand colors.
With all of the options that PPNYC has to choose from when creating awareness for their message, they saw the value in creating Custom Printed Foil Condoms with their message on them. These condoms are an economical way to get your message across to the masses when your budget is of concern. We look forward to working with them again in the near future.
